For agents: why we built it this way

We are sometimes asked by agents why Feezy looks & works the way it does. The answer is in how we built it and the problems Feezy solves for.

Agents can join Feezy in two ways:

1. 1. directly, under their own initiative; or,
   2. by being invited by a university or college that’s using Feezy.

Feezy started with capability enabling only universities & other providers to initiate activity. i.e. only those providers could invite agencies, and only providers could create listings (essentially offers to recruit, that agents could engage with - or not). This is a closed-loop marketplace, and there are lots of these closed-loop trading environments across Feezy today.

Plus, those providers wanted us to keep their presence discreet. This is for a range of good reasons, not least that almost zero providers have ever invited all of their partner agencies to Feezy. There’s good reason for this; as set out here (short version: some agencies already cost providers more than the average cost of sales, and there are better use-cases for our software than agreeing yet more supply with these agents).

But now we also allow agencies to join directly and to create and target their own offers to recruit.

Those agencies that join directly need to make themselves visible to universities, because of the discretion described above. They've just come into a very cool establishment but they don't know anybody, and none of their friends yet knows that they are in the same building as them. So they need to tell their friends and also start making new ones.

And the new ones will enable transactions with agencies they like. This is the open marketplace element.

Failure to put in 5 minutes of effort at the start of an agent’s time in Feezy will limit returns. But just a small amount of effort - e.g. offering to recruit for a university, and creating offers to recruit for universities in X or Y country - can pay dividends. Do those two things and also create a Featured Agent profile and your agency will be in the top 35% of all agencies in Feezy.

Featured Agent profiles are free and take 60 seconds to create. These are visible to universities. If they like where you operate / your profile / your accreditations / etc. they can choose to show you their recruitment offers.

The final thing agencies can do is invite other partners or prospective partners in; this is like Whatsapping your friends that you've arrived at a venue, and asking where they are. When those partners are already using Feezy they’ll receive a notification asking them to accept the in-Feezy linking of their profile with the agency’s profile.

Growing a network in Feezy is simple and free - it just needs a tiny bit of effort because of the discretion we've baked in at universities' requests.

But once that effort has been applied, the scale & potential of always-on software - versus the totally non-scalable & high-cost recruitment initiatives that dominate today - can be realised 24/7.
